In 2014, Snapchat introduced the augmented reality lenses, but they were not compatible with the rear camera of iPhone. The latest update rolled out for the company’s iOS app finally lets the iPhone user use augmented reality lenses with the iPhone rear camera.
The user can add real-time effects to the snaps using advanced face detection technology. Till now, the same feature was available only for the front facing camera.
In a major announcement, Snapchat said: “While snapping with the rear facing camera, simply tap the camera screen to find new Lenses that can paint the world around you with the new 3D experiences.”
Users need to update their Snapchat app to the 10.6.2 version from the App Store.
Using the Lens
Open the Snapchat camera screen. Switch between front and rear camera from the top-right corner. You will see a selection of different Lenses when you tap on the camera screen. Tap on any of them to select or swipe over to the World Lens and switch between different options. Pinch the fingers in and out to adjust the Lens size, or you can drag the Lens to different positions.
Users should note that the Text Lenses are specifically available only in few places and Snapchat will eventually roll out the Text Lenses to other geographic areas.
